Alternative Garfield

My friend Jim linked me to a message board where it was pointed out that the comic "Garfield" becomes much more interesting if you remove all of Garfield's thought bubbles. This makes the comic solely about Jon, a sad loser who spends his free time talking to his cat.

I saved the following comics, which I felt represented the best of the lot. Jon begins relatively happy, and his one-sided conversations with Garfield are mostly just goofy. But as time goes on, he gets weirder and crazier. Eventually he falls into a downward spiral of frustration and hopelessness over his lonely, pathetic life.

It's really incredible how much this improves the comic.
